WE NEED A DEAF DANGOTE

I came across the news where Dangote Foundation donated over 120 million Naira to one of the Secondary schools in Nigeria. Come on!! When someone with that huge money wants to make a difference, the sky is the limit.

The Deaf community needs a Deaf Dangote to bring a change, to make a difference with huge money in different ways. Someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to make a difference in the  Deaf education which is the most critical part. We have a long way to go, and we are praying to have one.

Because the Deaf education still has a long way to go, As a Special Educator myself, I know the level of Deaf education we have now, though we have tried our best, we have done our workshops, forums, Deaf studies programs and Conferences, we have even gone far by having websites, blogs, etc. but yet the level of awareness about us the Deaf community is still low, the discrimination is still in our front, and the high people are still playing our rights. A lot of Deaf kids are dropouts of schools dues to the financial issues, and we have few special schools, insufficient special education teachers, and many more.

All we need is a Deaf Dangote. We need a Deaf Dangote who will donate a considerable amount to the Deaf community to help us to build more special schools, hire more special education teachers, increase more advocates and reduce the numbers of Deaf kids dropouts, and create more awareness through media, etc. 

THE RESULTS WILL SURPRISE US ALL!
